Plan Coverage Summary

The Student Health Advantage plan provides comprehensive international medical coverage for non-U.S. students, scholars, and their dependents studying or participating in long-term educational and cultural exchange programs outside their home country. Designed to meet U.S. student, scholar, and cultural exchange visa requirements, coverage is available for up to 365 days per period with annually-renewable group options available.

  • Eligible Medical Expenses — up to $500,000 (student) / $100,000 (spouse and child)
  • Per Illness or Injury Limit — $300,000 (student) / $100,000 (spouse and child)
  • Prescription Drugs & Medication — up to $250,000 per period (student); up to $100,000 (dependents)
  • Mental Health / Substance Abuse (Inpatient) — up to $10,000
  • Mental Health / Substance Abuse (Outpatient) — up to $50/day; $500 maximum
  • Student Health Center — $5 copay per visit; plan pays 100%; not subject to deductible
  • Intercollegiate, Interscholastic, Intramural, or Club Sports — up to $5,000 per illness or injury
  • Emergency Medical Evacuation — up to $500,000
  • Repatriation for Medical Treatment — up to $100,000 (in addition to per illness/injury limit)
  • Return of Mortal Remains — up to $50,000; local burial/cremation up to $5,000
  • Emergency Reunion — up to $50,000 (up to 15 days; $25/day meal maximum)

  • Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) — $25,000 (student) / $10,000 (spouse) / $5,000 (child)
  • Bedside Visit — up to $1,500 (intensive care unit; not subject to deductible)
  • Dental Treatment — up to $350 (unexpected pain); up to $500 per injury (accident, non-emergency)
  • Traumatic Dental Injury — up to the policy maximum (hospital treatment)
  • Personal Liability — up to $10,000 combined ($100 per-incident deductible)
  • Incidental Trip — up to 14 days coverage in country of residence (for non-U.S. country of residence only)
  • Terrorism — up to $50,000
  • Telehealth — included for group plans only; not subject to deductible; applicable in the U.S.

Fixed Deductible: $250 per illness or injury (no options — deductible is fixed)

Coinsurance:

  • U.S. In-Network: plan pays 90%, insured pays 10%; out-of-pocket maximum $1,000
  • U.S. Out-of-Network: plan pays 80%, insured pays 20%; out-of-pocket maximum = up to the policy maximum
  • International: plan pays 100%, insured pays 0%; out-of-pocket maximum $0

ER Illness Deductible: $250 per ER visit for illness that does not result in direct hospital admission (injury is not subject to ER deductible)
