What Is Covered Under Trip Cancellation and Interruption?

Trip cancellation and interruption coverage protects your prepaid, nonrefundable trip costs when unexpected events force you to cancel before departure or cut your trip short.

Common Covered Reasons
While each plan may vary, the following are the most common covered reasons:

  • Illness, injury, or death of you, a traveling companion, or a family member

  • Severe weather or natural disasters that make travel unsafe or prevent departure

  • Delay or cancellation by a common carrier due to mechanical breakdown or strike

  • Jury duty, court orders, or military service

  • Terrorist incident in your destination city within a specified time frame before your trip

  • Quarantine or serious home damage (fire, flood, burglary)

What’s Not Covered

  • Change of mind or fear of travel

  • Known or foreseeable events at the time of purchase (e.g., named hurricanes)

  • Situations not listed as covered in the policy

Trip Cancellation vs. Trip Interruption

  • Cancellation: Protects your investment if you must cancel before your trip starts

  • Interruption: Reimburses unused trip costs and additional expenses if you must cut your trip short and return home early

What About Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR)?

  • CFAR is an optional add-on available with some plans

  • It lets you cancel for reasons not normally covered (like changing your mind)

  • Must be purchased within 21 days of your first trip deposit

  • Typically reimburses 50–75% of your trip cost

  • Not available in Israel
